7-Weeks, 1 Session Per Week, 8 Hours Per Session, 56 Hours Total. Prerequisite: None. This course provides instruction on backflow prevention theory, cross connection control laws, and backflow prevention asemblies. Assembly mechanics, design, installation, testing, and maintenance will be disucssed. A certification exam will be administered by the California-Nevada section of the AWWA at the conclusion of this course. Cost for the examination is included in the registration fee. Code 026. Certification is valid for three years.

BACKFLOW PREVENTION SPECIALIST CERTIFICATION

7-Weeks, 8 Hours Per Session, 56 Hours Total. Prerequisite: Current Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certificate. Students will learn how to check multi-piping drawings for cross-connections, conduct cross-connection surveys, use proper record keeping procedures and implement cross-connection programs and ordinances. A certification exam will be administered by the California-Nevada section of the AWWA at the conclusion of this course. Cost for the examination is included in the registration fee. Certification is valid for three years.

CONFINED SPACE

This class provides training in accordance with OSHA regulations that provides a basis for the safe entry and work within confined spaces, hazard identification, and the use of specialized equipment to ensure worker safety and healthy. EPA TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION PREPARATION, REVIEW AND EXAM

























1 Session, 8 Hours Total. Textbook Included. Prerequisite: A basic understanding of air conditioning systems. This course is recommended for those who have not previously taken the EPA exam. This eight-hour class will provide six hours of review for the CFC/EPA Certification Exam and a two-hour CFC/EPA Universal testing period. Topics include refrigeration, charging, transportation, recycling, and recovery of chlorofluorocarbons. The EPA requirements covered in this review prepare the student for all levels of certification, (Type I, Type II, Type III and Universal). HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

18-Weeks, 3 Hours Per Session, 54 Hours Total. Textbook Included. Prerequisite: None. Students receive Hazwoper certification in HAZCOM, MSDS, industrial hygiene, toxicology, bloodborne pathogens, and air monitoring. Students will also receive certification in respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, site control zones, confined space, site emergencies, drum handling, medical surveillance. Government regulations, employee rights and employer responsibilities will also be addressed. First aid and CPR are also included. Students will receive a certification card from the American Red Cross. Code 025. IUOE Certification is valid for one year.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS (24 HOURS)
3-Weeks, 8 Hours Per Session, 24 Hours Total. Textbook Included. Prerequisite: None. After completing this course the student should be able to understand the methods used to detect the presence or release of any hazardous chemicals or substances that they may encounter. The student will also understand the types of physical and health hazards posed by any chemicals or substances that they may come across. Additionally the different ways to protect the workers from exposure to chemicals such as work practices, protective equipment and emergency procedures will be explored. The IUOE renewal is valid for one year.

An annual update addressing required elements within the HAZWOPER Standards, new equipment, technologies, and methodologies that have evolved that are essential for HAZWOPER site workers to retain their certification The IUOE renewal is valid for one year.

HIGH RISE FIRE SAFETY DIRECTOR




















9-Weeks, 3 Hours Per Session, 27 Hours Total. Textbook Included. Prerequisite: None. This class provides instruction in facility emergency plans, fire prevention, life safety systems, evacuations, relocation procedures, earthquake preparedness and emergency management. A facility emergency plan or term paper is required for successful completion of this course. The High Rise Fire Safety Director Certification is valid for 5 years. Students who successfully pass this course will receive 1.5 units through City College of San Francisco if you have not previously taken/passed this course.

HIGH RISE FIRE SAFETY DIRECTOR RENEWAL

Prerequisite: Registrant must possess a valid* Fire Safety Director Certificate: A copy of your valid certificate must be submitted with your registration form. This class provides an overview of current federal, state and local laws, codes and policies as well as an overview of the responsibilities of a High Rise Fire Safety Director. This class includes a question and answer session and suggestions on how to handle specific issues at your facility. *You are eligible to renew if your current certificates date does not exceed 5 years.
